Mount Ebel

It was in the year 1950 that Pastor William Hunte pioneered an open-air evangelistic drive in a small country village near Sargeant Street, St. John. The membership grew and with the assistance of the late Bishop Harry T. Gentles, a church was organized. As a small group, sessions were first held in the home of a lady named Sister Violet Sargeant. The numbers grew and a house was rented and used as the meeting place for this young and vibrant church. As the membership continued to increase, a church building was acquired.

This was made possible through the efforts of Bishop Gentles along with the personal sacrifice of Pastor Hunte and other members. In 1984 Pastor Hunte was called to higher service and the management of the church was entrusted to Deacon Alexander Hope and Elder Donald Padmore. Subsequently, Elder Cameron White was appointed to lead the church. Under the guidance of Bishop Jestina Gentles and then Elder (now Bishop) St. Clair Howell, the current edifice was constructed. It was dedicated on May 31, 1992. With the support of his wife, Minister Delores White, Elder White and members have since pursued the commission of our Lord Jesus Christ with vigour.
