Emmanuel Tabernacle

Emmanuel Tabernacle was being led by Pastor Hilton Dottin in the early 1950s when it applied for membership of the United Holy Church of America. With a high priority being placed on the development of a deeper relationship with God, the membership had outgrown the capacity of its place of worship. A building was secured but was later destroyed in the year 1955 when the island was hit by a devastating hurricane named Janet. This tragedy birthed a consorted effort by the church members and others within the community to construct a new edifice. The membership had tripled and great unity was existing among the brethren within the congregation. After several services in the home of the Pastor, land was purchased and shortly after a new beautiful structure was erected. When Pastor Dottin was called to higher service, the pastoral mantle was handed to Elder Kenneth Harewood.

He would see this church membership increase significantly. Many ministries were birthed as the church aligned its vision with the blueprint of the book of Acts. After Elder Harewood parted with the U.H.C.A. the church was pastored by a young, dynamic Ricardo Alleyne. He eventually took up residence in a neighbouring island and pastoral duties were undertaken by Elder Michael Callender — a firebrand for the Lord. Under his administration, the various auxiliary departments continued to function well. Today the church is prospering under the leadership of Elder Trevor Simmons and his assistant – Minister Jublilee Blackett. Extensive refurbishment of the building, completed in 2013, has produced the present edifice which has provided increased seating capacity in the sanctuary and a pastor’s office among other facilities.
